Episode 24: Chris #2 of Anti-Flag

By: joe Categories:podcast

Anti-Flag and Coachella. On the surface they seem to go together like peanut butter and spaghetti or steak and vegans. However sometimes opposites attract...and in a kickass way! In between Coachella weeks one and two, Chris #2 of Anti-Flag stopped by SideOneDummy Records and chatted with Joe. The two talked Coachella, Fugazi and how to keep on keepin' on in the punk rock world. Chris also performs three songs acoustic. Episode 23: The Greatest Generation Tour

By: joe Categories:podcast

Every once in a while, Joe gets this crazy idea to fill the studio with 20 men who have been on tour together for a month. This was one of those times. Joe welcomed The Greatest Generation Tour, headlined by The Wonder Years and supported by Fireworks, Citizen and Modern Baseball to the Complete Control Studio. Joe held a roundtable discussion with the bands, and then invited Modern Baseball, Fireworks and Citizen to play acoustic. You can check all that out here. Episode 22: Graham Elwood

By: joe Categories:podcast

Joe met Graham at a comedy show put on by Quiksilver that centered around surfing. It doesn't take a genius to know that's instant bonding time for Joe. After hitting it off in Irvine, Joe invited Graham to the SideOneDummy office to do his "Stay Stoked" podcast. The two did touch on surfing, but they also talked about the evolving landscape of comedy and the difference between being a touring comedian and getting up in Los Angeles. They also talked martial arts and Joe called Graham "Glam Elwood." It was that kind of podcast. [soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/stay_stoked/episode-22-comedian-graham[/soundcloud]

Bands that change the landscape of rock music come around once a generation. The Beatles come to mind. So do The Ramones and Nirvana. And of course, there's Guns 'N' Roses. Joe had a chance to catch up with Duff McKagen of the aforementioned Guns 'N' Roses (as well as Velvet Revolver and currently Walking Papers) to discuss his upbringing and his love of punk rock. The interview is taken from the January 19th broadcast of Complete Control Radio. [soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/stay_stoked/episode-19-duff-mckagen[/soundcloud]

Episode 16: Matt Besser

By: joe Categories:podcast

You know Matt Besser from his roles in countless films and television shows (my personal favorite is his role in "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story," but that's neither here nor there). You know him as one of the founding members comedy-staple Upright Citizen's Brigade. What you may not know bout Matt though is that beneath his funny bones lies a punk rock heart. Matt talks with Joe about his introduction to punk rock, his time in a band and what being a first time parent is like. [powerpress]

Tony Sly Dedication Show

By: Joe Sib Categories:podcast

Last weekend we dedicated the entire two hours of Complete Control Radio to the life of Tony Sly on the one year anniversary of his passing. We thought it would be a nice touch and a fitting tribute. The outpouring of response was something that we couldn't believe. People were calling in all night to share their stories or pay their respects to Tony. It wasn't a normal episode of Complete Control Radio and we were trying to figure out what more we could do with the show. With the blessing from Fat Wreck Chords, we have decided to put the entire episode* free of charge for download. So enjoy the show and play it loud! Guests include: Fat Mike (NOFX), Brigitte Sly (Tony's wife), Joey Cape (Lagwagon), Greg Attonito (Bouncing Souls), Toby Jeg (Red Scare), Jono Diener (The Swellers), Nat Rufus (The Blacklist Royals) and more. *Note: The two songs we played off of the upcoming Tony Sly Tribute album are not included on the download. It was an exclusive radio-only debut that Fat granted us. It was cool that they even did that! [powerpress]
